Sub Pop on Sub Pop: Daughn Gibson samples local music

"Reach Into the Fire" by Daughn Gibson

Seattle's Sub Pop Records has announced a new act on its roster, Philadelphia "crooner and sound-sculptor" Daughn Gibson. His new song "Reach Into the Fire" samples tracks by local labelmates Tiny Vipers and Shabazz Palaces. To my ears there is also a third local sample: Gibson's singing voice, which sounds just like Ben Funkhouser of Reed College band Hausu.
