'Same Love': Macklemore, Marriage Equality, Sub Pop
"Same Love" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (feat. Mary Lambert)
Capitol Hill rapper Macklemore (profile here) is nothing if not a uniter. Right now he's at the peak of his powers, expertly controlling 10,000-person festival crowds, using his influence for good with "Same Love." Following in the tradition of his popular, socially concerned anthems "Otherside" and "Wings," the lyrics are about dismantling homophobia and promoting marriage equality: "strip away the fear / underneath it's all the same love."

"Same Love" is on upcoming album "The Heist," out Oct. 9.; the track will be released as a 7" single Jul. 31 by local label Sub Pop Records, with proceeds supporting Music for Marriage for Equality.
Macklemore plays the WaMu Theater Oct. 12.
