'The Wire: The Musical' with Michael Kenneth Williams
If you have seen "The Wire" — aka the best show on TV ever, which ran on HBO from 2002-2008 — you know how ridiculous a notion "The Wire: The Musical" is. The original "Wire" was a dramatic look at the intricate overlaps of the drug trade, police, unionized dock workers, the education system, civic leaders and the media in Baltimore, Maryland. The musical plays on that seriousness and asks, What if the nuance was stripped and the drama set to Broadway-style music?
Plenty "Wire" actors starred in an ad for the nonexistent musical; the ad premiered on funnyordie.com. Credits copied from the website:
Michael Kenneth Williams stars alongside Sonja Sohn, Larry Gillard Jr., Andre Royo & Felicia "Snoop" Pearson from The Wire in The Wire: The Musical where they will allow you to experience America's failing drug war through the magic of song!
