"Maybe we oughta think twice / before we start something nice"

That's the refrain to "Think 2wice," written out above. The song is by local rapper/producer Sax G and his friends Mikey Nice and Tay Sean, about nipping a doomed relationship in the bud before someone's feelings get hurt. It's from Sax's album "Pootey Brown Is...Sax G," which you can download for free here.

At present, the idea of infidelity is very popular in hip-hop. It's hard to turn on KUBE and not hear a rapper talking about stealing your girlfriend, and how you better watch out, because it can happen in the blink of an eye. A stolen partner is a total fantasy for a person who wants life to be easy: you don't have to invest at all, because it's not legitimate anyway.

But Sax & Co. are hip to the fact that life is hard. They demystify the player lifestyle and put it in perspective. If you are leading a person on and don't really like them, the adult thing is to call it off. You'll be criticized, but you should be able to handle that.

If you're into the watery funk of the track, be sure to snap up the whole EP at the link above and check another new one from Sax, "Groove You" feat. Dudley Perkins and Georgia Anne Muldrow:
