"Yoked" by Truckasauras

Two years have gone by without new music from Seattle savant electronic band Truckasauras. But now the quintet is back, releasing its third album "2012" in clumps on the Internet. For the uninitiated, that means analog synthesizers, instrumental hip-hop and electro beats. "Yoked" drones heavily while also going on subtle songwriter excursions, indicating Truckasauras is still a genre of one.

"Mob Ties" by Nacho Picasso

Seattle rapper Nacho Picasso has risen to popularity and influence over the last few years to become our reigning supervillain, a tongue-twisting chiller/killer dude. He's kind of like Lil Wayne but on a darker trip. New album "Exalted" came out Memorial Day weekend. The standout cut is the playful, psychopathic "Mob Ties," produced by audio/visual collaborators Blue Sky Black Death.

File this under "the Walla Walla sound." Dude York has been playing rough-chopped pop rock in Seattle for a little over a year, after moving here from Walla Walla, Wash. Now two of their younger buddy-bands from Whitman College in Walla Walla are graduating, mobilizing and playing concerts here, too. They are Chastity Belt and Tender Hips. Check songs by all three above. Common threads: anger, humor and four chords played loudly. The Dude York and Chastity Belt songs are old; all the recordings are new, made in Seattle.

"Trill Bundles Vol. 1 and 2" by Stephanie

Consider this the buzz-building street mixtape preceding Capitol Hill quintet Stephanie's upcoming album "One Glove." It's not the experimental, '80s-ish dance rock we'll likely find on that record, but a collection of jam sessions. As a sketch-book-turned-album it's light but intriguing, colored with drum machines, old synthesizers and catchy bits of electric guitar.
