Ryan Divish’s major-league power rankings

advertising

Nationals: Not sure if Matt Williams is a good or bad manager, but he’s certainly interested in letting everyone know that he is the manager with how he handles things.

Dodgers: Love him or hate him, you can’t take your eyes off Yasiel Puig when he’s on the field. Three triples in one game? That’s the first time a Dodger has done it since 1901.

Rays: They’re the hottest team in baseball, winning eight in a row. Joe Maddon said they’d make a run in the second half. He’s not often wrong.

Phillies: Ryan Howard (owed more than $50 million through 2017) benched, Jonathan Papelbon (owed almost $18 million through 2015) being shopped. How does GM Ruben Amaro Jr. stay employed?
