Early grand slam lifts Reno past Tacoma in PCL baseball

Mike Jacobs puts the early hurt on James Gillheeney

TACOMA — Reno’s Mike Jacobs hit a grand slam off Tacoma pitcher James Gillheeney in the second inning and that paved the way for the Aces’ 7-0 victory Tuesday night in Pacific Coast League baseball.

Jacobs ended up with two hits and five RBI for Reno (25-21).

Gillheeney lasted just 41 / 3 innings and gave up five earned runs on nine hits. He’s now 1-4 with an 8.41 ERA.

Abraham Almonte had a double for Tacoma (20-22).
