Montero’s homer lifts Rainiers

Jesus Montero’s sixth home run of the season powered the Tacoma Rainiers to a 5-4 win over the Las Vegas 51s in the Pacific Coast League series finale Sunday.

LAS VEGAS — Jesus Montero’s sixth home run of the season powered the Tacoma Rainiers to a 5-4 win over the Las Vegas 51s in the Pacific Coast League series finale Sunday.

Tacoma trailed 3-2 before Montero belted a three-run homer in the fifth inning. The blast was Montero’s fourth homer in his past five games. He has hit safely in a team-high 11 consecutive games, batting .377 with eight extra-base hits and 14 runs batted in since April 11.
