Romero powers Rainiers past Las Vegas, 12-5

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Stefen Romero went 4 for 5 with two home runs, a double and four runs batted in, powering the Tacoma Rainiers to a 12-5 Pacific Coast League victory over Las Vegas Wednesday night.

Catcher Jason Jaramillo also went 4 for 5 for the Rainiers (40-27), who had 14 hits.

Center fielder Franklin Gutierrez of the Mariners began his second rehabilitation stint with Tacoma and went 1 for 5 with a single and two strikeouts.

AquaSox open Friday

The Everett AquaSox will open their 30th Northwest League season at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Spokane. The team’s home opener is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Monday at Everett Memorial Stadium against Tri-City. The AquaSox franchise was created in 1984 as the Everett Giants.
