Detroit Tigers beat New York Yankees again for 2-0 lead in ALCS | Baseball
The Detroit Tigers head home with a 2-0 lead over the New York Yankees in the best-of-seven American League Championship Series. The Tigers won 3-0 in Game 2 at Yankee Stadium.

NEW YORK — With their captain and hits leader, shortstop Derek Jeter, moving around the city on crutches, the New York Yankees returned to the Bronx on Sunday, hours after one of their most dispiriting losses in years. But Sunday's setback was not much better for them.
The Yankees lost 3-0 to the Detroit Tigers, who have a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven American League Championship Series. The next three games are in Detroit, starting Tuesday, and Tigers ace Justin Verlander is scheduled to pitch Game 3.
Jeter, who fractured his left ankle trying to field a ball in the 12th inning of Game 1, is out for the postseason.
"We have to make adjustments," manager Joe Girardi said of the Yankees' offensive struggles. "They are not going to put it on a tee for us, we know that."
Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez gave up three hits in seven innings and Phil Coke — a former Yankee — allowed one hit in the last two innings and got the save.
Tigers manager Jim Leyland took Jose Valverde out of consideration for the closer role in Game 2. Valverde gave up two-run homers to ex-Mariners Ichiro and Raul Ibanez in the ninth inning of Game 1, which went 12 innings. Valverde also blew a save in the division series against Oakland.
Yankees starter Hiroki Kuroda allowed three runs in 7-2/3 innings. Two of those scored in the eighth after a call by second-base ump Jeff Nelson extended the inning.
Second baseman Robinson Cano made a swipe tag as Detroit's Omar Infante was diving back to second after taking a wide turn. Replays showed Cano missed Infante's arm but brushed his body. Nonetheless, Nelson called Infante safe.
Cano and Girardi argued with Nelson. When Girardi returned to the field to make a pitching change, he continued the discussion and was ejected by Nelson.
After seeing a replay, Nelson had a postgame comment: "The call was incorrect."
