Las Vegas pitchers escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the eighth inning and held off the Tacoma Rainiers 4-2 Friday night at Cheney Stadium.
TACOMA — Las Vegas pitchers escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the eighth inning and held off the Tacoma Rainiers 4-2 in a Pacific Coast League game Friday night at Cheney Stadium.
The Rainiers started the eighth with consecutive singles by Franklin Gutierrez, Luis Antonio Jimenez and Alex Liddi, but scored only one run.
Jimenez went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles for the Rainiers (57-77).
Yakima 4, at Everett 3
Michael Lang's two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning gave the Bears a Northwest League victory.
Patrick Kivlehan's 11th home run, a solo shot, had put Everett ahead 3-0 in the fifth inning, but the AquaSox (14-17 second half) couldn't hold the lead.
