SALT LAKE CITY — Vinnie Catricala and Trayvon Robinson homered and Blake Beavan improved to 3-0 as the Tacoma Rainiers crushed the Salt Lake Bees 13-5 in a Pacific Coast League game Saturday.
The Rainiers (37-51) knocked out Salt Lake starter Trevor Bell during the first inning, when they scored five runs.
Salt Lake cut Tacoma's lead to 5-4 with three runs in the bottom of the first and one in the second. The Rainiers regained control in the fifth on Robinson's solo shot and Catricala's three-run homer.
Beavan allowed four runs in six innings. He gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out two.
Catricala had three hits for Tacoma and five runs batted in.
At Vancouver 4, Everett 3
The host Canadians used a three-run fifth inning to rally past the AquaSox (16-7).
Patrick Kivlehan went 2 for 4 with an RBI to lead Everett, which also got runs driven in by Alfredo Morales and Marcus Littlewood.
Lefty Steve Ewing (1-1) took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits in 4-2/3 innings.
