TACOMA — Nick Franklin hit a grand slam and Andrew Carraway tossed a two-hitter, leading the Tacoma Rainiers to a 9-1 Pacific Coast League win over Fresno on Saturday night at Cheney Stadium.
Carraway (3-3) faced only 29 batters, striking out seven with no walks. He retired 14 consecutive batters between Todd Linden's one-out homer in the second and Nick Noonan's leadoff single in the seventh. Carraway then set down the final nine Grizzlies batters. The right-hander lowered his earned-run average to 3.32.
Franklin's slam was his first homer since being called up from AA Jackson. Carlos Peguero blasted two solo homers for Tacoma (33-48).
Leadoff batter Darren Ford and No. 9 hitter Carlos Triunfel each had a pair of singles and Vinnie Catricala singled, walked twice and scored three runs for the Rainiers.

Taylor Ard hit a tiebreaking RBI double and scored on Patrick Kivlehan's single in the 11th inning, giving the AquaSox (13-3) a Northwest League victory.
Brandon Plotz and Dominic Leone (2-0) each pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the AquaSox.
