COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Danny Hultzen had a rocky Pacific Coast League debut, leaving after three innings and taking the loss in the Tacoma Rainiers' 8-4 defeat against Colorado Springs Saturday night.

Hultzen, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 draft by the Mariners, lasted three innings and allowed five hits and five runs, all earned. The left-hander struck out three and walked five, throwing only 41 of 81 pitches for strikes.

Before being promoted to Tacoma, Hultzen went 8-3 with a 1.19 earned-run average for Jackson in the AA Southern League.

Cleanup hitter Luis Antonio Jimenez went 2 for 4 with a two-run single, lifting his average to .319 for the Rainiers (31-44).

AquaSox beat Spokane

EVERETT — Taylor Ard had a two-run single and an RBI double, leading the Everett AquaSox to a 6-3 win over Spokane in the seven-inning opener of a Northwest League doubleheader.

The game was a makeup of Friday's rainout.

South African right-hander Dylan Unsworth (1-0) pitched six innings to earn the victory for Everett (6-2). Oliver Garcia struck out two in a one-two-three ninth for his second save.
