Rewind: Live chat with former Mariner Ruppert Jones

Ruppert Jones played 12 seasons in the major leagues with six different clubs.

In 1976, he was the first player chosen by the Mariners in the MLB Expansion Draft and was a fan favorite in Seattle from 1977-79.

He was also part of the 1984 Detroit Tigers' squad that defeated the San Diego Padres in the World Series.

During his career, Jones was a two-time All-Star and batted. 250 with 147 HRs and 579 RBI.

As part of the Mariners' 35th anniversary celebration, he'll throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Friday's game against the Chicago White Sox at Safeco Field.

Jones talked about his memorable playing days with the Mariners, his career in baseball and much more in a live chat April 19 on seattletimes.com.
