EVERETT — Right-hander Matthew Latos struck out 10 Everett AquaSox in five innings to lead the Eugene Emeralds to a 10-2 win Wednesday in Northwest League baseball.
The AquaSox struck out seven more times against relievers Robert Woodard and Colt Hynes.
Designated hitter Yefri Carvajal was the Emeralds' star at the plate, going 3 for 5 with two doubles, a home run and three runs batted in. Brian Lauderdale and Kellen Kulbacki also hit home runs for Eugene.
Joseph Dunigan hit a solo home run for Everett.
AquaSox starter Doug Salinas lasted just three innings, allowing six runs — all earned — on seven hits.
Everett finishes its three-game series with Eugene today before hosting Vancouver for three over the weekend.
