Mateo collects 12th save, Rainiers hang on to win

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Julio Mateo got the final five outs for his 12th save as the Tacoma Rainiers held on to beat Oklahoma 6-5 in a Pacific Coast League game Monday.
Gookie Dawkins' two-out, two-run double drove in Bryan LaHair and Rob Johnson, who had singled, to cap a three-run sixth inning that put the Rainiers ahead 6-1. Guillermo Quiroz hit a three-run homer to help Oklahoma rally.
Dawkins finished with three runs batted in, and Jeremy Reed singled, doubled and drove in a run for Tacoma.
Left-hander Ryan Feierabend (3-3) earned the victory, allowing five hits and two earned runs while striking out four in seven innings.
Mateo allowed one hit in his 1-2/3 scoreless innings, lowering his earned-run average to 0.79 for Tacoma (48-62). He has not allowed a run in nine relief appearances in July, striking out 14 and allowing nine hits in 14-1/3 innings.
