RANTS To the idiots who shoot off fireworks and cherry bombs for hours in public parks: if you really want loud explosions, join the Army! And clean up your mess, the three destroyed garbage cans and the imploded porta-potty. Grow up! ... To the police for not enforcing Seattle’s fireworks ban. We had shells and M-80s going off in our North Seattle neighborhood until 1:30 a.m. on the Fourth ... To people in Brier shooting off bottle rockets and other illegal fireworks, including my state trooper neighbor who should know better.

RAVE To Green Seattle volunteers’ hard work to tear out blackberry and nonnative plants and replant with lovely native vegetation along the Burke-Gilman Trail, they’re making the trail totally awesome!
