Daily Rant & Rave: local newscasters who mispronounce names of state towns

RAVE To staff at Overlake Hospital and at Pacific Regent skilled-nursing facility, who cared for my dad in the last six weeks of his life before he died at the end of May from pancreatic cancer. Staff at both places cared for him as though he were their own family, shining light on a dark, difficult time. There is much good in this world.
RANT To local newscasters who mispronounce the names of towns, cities, rivers and other Washington state locations. While our state has many hard-to-pronounce geographic sites, it should be newscasters’ responsibility to pronounce things correctly. Also, it would be good to actually know where things are, as I recently heard one say “Gold Bar is just west of Snoqualmie Pass” when correctly it’s just west of Stevens Pass.
