A 14-year-old Black Hills High School student pleaded not guilty Monday to juvenile criminal charges related to an alleged gun threat.

The teen, who is not being named because he is a minor, is charged with two juvenile counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and one juvenile count of felony harassment.

The teen was being held Monday at the Thurston County Juvenile Jail, with bail set at $100,000.

He was arrested in early December after a friend told Tumwater police that the teen had threatened to shoot students at the school, Tumwater police have stated.

Tumwater police found guns and ammunition in the boy’s bedroom when they went to his home.

The boy’s grandmother has said the boy is not a danger, and police are blowing the incident out of proportion.

If the boy is convicted of the juvenile charges against him, he could potentially be placed in the custody of juvenile correctional authorities for several years, or until he turns 21.
