Snohomish County voters elected two members to open seats on the County Council and returned veteran Dave Somers to a third consecutive term.

Republican Ken Klein was leading Democrat Bill Blake 54 to 45 percent Tuesday night, and Democrat Terry Ryan had a commanding 62 to 37 percent lead over Republican Robert Reedy.

Klein replaces Republican John Koster, and Ryan takes the seat of Democrat Dave Gossett. Koster and Gossett couldn’t run for re-election because of the county’s term limit of 12 consecutive years in office.

Somers, a Democrat, led Republican Chris Vallo 57 to 42 percent. Vallo was dramatically outspent.

Tuesday’s vote count means the council will keep its balance of four Democrats and one Republican.

Klein, vice chair of the Snohomish Planning Commission and a former Arlington planning commissioner, called for making county policies more business friendly.

Ryan, a Mill Creek City Council member for 17 years, said his work on that city’s new Town Center created jobs, opportunities for new businesses and balanced city budgets.
