CAMP MURRAY, Wash. —

After a week off the job, more than 700 federal technicians who work for the Washington Military Department are returning to work Tuesday.

The commander of the Washington National Guard, Maj. Gen. Bret Daugherty, said the furlough affected the staff's ability to maintain vehicles and aircraft used during emergencies.

About 80 state employees of the Military Department remain furloughed by the congressional budget impasse, and the National Guard is still not able to conduct weekend drills.
