BATTLE GROUND, Wash. —

The Battle Ground School District has closed five schools Wednesday because of threats against students and staff at one school in the district near Vancouver.

The district says on its website the threats were made Tuesday against Chief Umtuch Middle School. That school is closed along with Captain Strong Primary, Summit View Middle School, CAM Academy and Battle Ground High School.

The district says police are evaluating the situation and when schools reopen there will be an increased police presence.
