Correction: Velázquez acquitted of DUI

An article in Tuesday’s Seattle Times incorrectly stated that Venus Velázquez, who ran against Bruce Harrell for the Seattle City Council in 2007, had been charged with and convicted of driving under the influence. In fact, Ms. Velázquez was acquitted of the charge by a jury in 2008. The Times apologizes to Ms. Velázquez, who is now deputy director of Consejo Counseling & Referral Service in Southeast Seattle, which provides mental-health counseling in the Latino community. When the error was brought to our attention Tuesday morning, the online version of the story was immediately corrected.
