Seems like a prominent Adam's apple for a female. MORE

Last week, we reported on the case of a mystery woman whose in-laws discovered after her death that she was not who she claimed to be. She went by Lori Ruff, but years earlier, she had stolen the identity of a child who died in a Fife house fire.

We call her Jane Doe.

A Seattle investigator is trying to learn her true identity — and we’ve asked readers to help. On we’ve posted documents, photos and other clues she left behind.

The story has spread broadly, and amateur sleuths around the globe have chimed in with their theories.

Jane Doe has made the pages of the newspapers throughout the United States and Europe. Her story has been on national television and translated into Indonesian and Russian. And still, the mystery remains. The investigator has run down all the good leads. The best bet now is that someone sees Jane Doe’s picture and recognizes her.
