EVERETT, Wash. —

A Mountlake Terrace man now faces a murder charge after a victim of a bar-fight beating has died.

The Daily Herald of Everett reports that 21-year-old Bryan James Scott pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder last week in Snohomish County Superior Court. Prosecutors say he attacked and stomped Christopher Patterson outside O'Houlie's tavern in Mountlake Terrace last October.

Patterson suffered a fracture skull and severe brain injury, slipped into a coma and died late last month.

Investigators say surveillance video showed the 32-year-old Patterson falling to the ground after being punched in the head, and then Scott continuing to beat the unconscious man.

Scott remains free on bail. His trial is scheduled for August.
