LAKE STEVENS, Wash. —

An unconscious student has been pulled from a swimming pool at Lake Stevens High School.

School district spokeswoman Jayme Taylor told KOMO ( http://bit.ly/13qUlDj) it happened during a physical education class Friday morning. The aquatics manager noticed a student in trouble and pulled him from the water.

Taylor says the student responded to CPR and was breathing and had a heartbeat when fire department medics took over.

He has been taken to a hospital in Everett.
