OLYMPIA, Wash. —

The Washington State Patrol says a semi-truck driver fell asleep and crashed into a tree Saturday morning, blocking the eastbound lanes of state Route 8 for hours.

The Olympian ( http://is.gd/Jw9PZM) reports the driver was not injured in the crash on the Old Olympic Highway. Trooper Guy Gil says he has been cited for second-degree negligent driving.

Gill says the driver admitted to falling asleep at the wheel.
