HERMISTON, Ore. —

Police in Hermiston, Ore., say two local women accused of making and passing fake payroll checks from several businesses have been arrested for investigation of forgery.

The Tri-City Herald reports that ( http://is.gd/xiDqwP) that Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston said the arrests came after a nearly month-long investigation.

Booked into the Umatilla County Jail on Thursday were 19-year-old Brianna Marie Roach and 22-year-old Alexandra Maria Rogers.

The chief says police believe the counterfeit ring may have spread into other communities and want people to be alert for any fake checks with Becker Construction, USA Subs & Grill and Bealls names on them, Edmiston said.

Police say there may be more arrests.
