Deputy injured in motorcycle crash dies

The King County sheriff's office says a deputy injured in an off-duty motorcycle crash on Monday night has died.

TACOMA, Wash. —

The King County sheriff's office says a deputy injured in an off-duty motorcycle crash on Monday night has died.

Sheriff's Sgt. Cindi West said Deputy Martin Duran died Wednesday night at Tacoma General Hospital.

The News Tribune says (http://is.gd/fMVIns) Pierce County sheriff's officers continue to investigate the crash near Frederickson.

West says the 47-year-old Duran served in the Army and then became a paramedic and firefighter in New Mexico. He became a deputy for the Valencia County Sheriff's Office in New Mexico, and in 2004 started working for King County.
