NORTH BEND, Wash. —

An intruder was stabbed to death in a struggle with residents of a home in North Bend.

The King County sheriff's office says residents were awakened about 2 a.m. Monday by a barking dog. A man and wife, baby, and mother-in-law were inside.

The man struggled with the intruder and the wife got involved. During the fight one of them fatally stabbed the intruder.

Sgt. Cindi West says the family is upset from the struggle. She says they apparently did not know the intruder.

She says deputies had been called to the home Sunday and whether that's related is under investigation. Detectives waited for a search warrant to search the home.
