YAKIMA, Wash. —

Police say two men involved in a fatal fight in Yakima had been cellmates earlier this year at a prison in Connell.

Investigators initially thought that 21-year-old Gage M. Rogers was related to 45-year-old Eric A. Taylor.

Rogers is accused of beating and stomping Taylor to death Monday in the basement of a Yakima home that belongs to Taylor's family.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports ( http://bit.ly/10tdzWr) the two had been drinking for hours.

Capt. Rod Light said Wednesday the men met at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center.

A spokeswoman for the prison north of Pasco says Rogers served time for assault and animal cruelty in Ferry County and was released in January. Taylor serve time for an escape conviction in Chelan County and was released in March.
