SEATTLE —

The Seattle Fire Department says a climber is presumed dead in a fiery fall on a high-voltage electrical tower.

Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore says Seattle City Light advised firefighters to remain on the ground because of the danger of electrocution.

He says a Snohomish County helicopter spotted a person on a platform on the 150-foot level, but no sign of life.

Moore says City Light is turning off the power so firefighters can recover the body.

A person who lives near the tower says he was on his deck before 1 a.m. Friday and saw and explosion with electrical popping and crackling sounds and a small fire. He says he heard a man calling for five or 10 minutes, then he apparently fell to the platform.
