VANCOUVER, Wash. —

A man who worked for Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna's campaign in Vancouver says it has taken six months to get his paycheck.

The Vancouver Columbian reports (http://bit.ly/13QHN8K) that as the November election waned, McKenna campaign staffers hired people as "ballot chasers" whose job was to encourage last-minute voters.

But one of them, Fred Swink, says he didn't get the promised $50-a-day gas card and the $10-an-hour wage. Swink worked a total of two 10-hour days.

He estimates that another 20 ballot chasers have not been paid.

This week the state Republican Party said they will send checks to people who have not been paid.

The McKenna campaign raised over $13 million and closed in March. Its last few transactions were $300,000 for campaign manager Randy Pepple and his wife and a $50,000 donation to the state GOP.

Despite the experience, Swink says he supports McKenna.
