BELLINGHAM, Wash. —

Bellingham police say a 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion he killed his roommate's pet rabbit.

The Bellingham Herald reports (http://bit.ly/12fEjKn) that police found the rabbit dead in a flowerbed outside the home that Gregory James Irons shared with his 53-year-old roommate on Saturday night.

Police say the two men had gotten into an argument earlier. While Irons was still angry, the brown-and-gray rabbit wandered into his room. Police say Irons told them he was tired of the rabbit roaming the house, so "tossed the rabbit out of his room."

Police spokesman Mark Young says Irons then attacked his roommate, leaving the man with injuries to his face.

Irons was arrested on suspicion of three misdemeanors, including taking or killing a pet, third-degree domestic violence malicious mischief and fourth-degree domestic violence assault.
