PORTLAND, Ore. —

Foss Maritime says it's selling its Columbia River business to Tidewater Barge Lines and laying off 60 workers.

Seattle-based Foss declined to elaborate on Monday's state workforce notice. It has offices in Portland and Astoria.

The Oregonian reports ( http://is.gd/dEJfMN) the move will leave two main tugboat companies on the Columbia. Tidewater moves grain along the Columbia-Snake river system. Shaver Transportation also moves grain barges and transports river pilots and maneuvers cargo ships in and out of ports.
