Central Washington hires Francois as AD

ELLENSBURG, Wash. —

Dennis Francois is leaving Drake University to become the athletic director at Central Washington.

The school announced Francois' hiring on Monday. He has been the associate athletic director for external affairs at Drake since 2008. He will start his new position at Central Washington on June 17.

Francois was chosen from an initial list of 86 candidates. Before taking the position at Drake, Francois was the athletic director at Southern Oregon University. He also served one year as the interim athletic director at New Mexico Highlands in 2002-03.

Francois will succeed Jack Bishop, who is retiring in June. Bishop has been the athletic director at Central Washington since 2000.
