SPOKANE, Wash. —

The president of Gonzaga University will review a recent decision to deny recognition to an all-male, all-Catholic student club.

Leaders of the Jesuit college last month denied recognition to the Knights of Columbus College Council, meaning the group is not eligible for funds from the student government. That was because the Knights didn't meet the school's guidelines of being nondiscriminatory and all-inclusive.

But The Spokesman-Review reports the denial sparked an outcry in the Catholic community, including Gonzaga alumni and parents of current students.

A press release from Gonzaga says President Thayne McCulloh has decided to review the decision.
