SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. —

A man is in custody after a shooting in Spokane Valley that didn't injure anyone.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office says a man called deputies at about 7 a.m. Tuesday to report that his car broke down outside a building, and that someone had fired a shot at him.

Deputies learned that the same address - a former radiator business, according to The Spokesman-Review - was being investigated by a federal task force that targets gang activity.

The sheriff's office SWAT team, bomb unit and hostage negotiators obtained a warrant and searched the building.

Thirty-six-year-old Shawn Mertes was arrested for investigation of aiming or discharging a firearm.

No further information about the task force investigation was immediately released.
