A 26-year-old Puyallup man has been sentenced to one year in jail for throwing two punched that put another man in a coma last year.

The Tacoma News Tribune reports that Daman Heath Lehman was sentenced Friday in Pierce County Superior Court. Lehman had pleaded guilty earlier this month to second-degree assault for hitting James Foster last April. Foster lapsed into a coma after falling and hitting his head on concrete.

Foster was hospitalized for days and still suffers linger problems from his injuries

Police say a drunken Lehman punched Foster without provocation after the victim said something about Lehman's or someone else's car in the parking lot outside the bar Cheers.

Foster's parents said the sentence was too lenient.
