Gov. Jay Inslee says Washington has a closing window of opportunity to replace the bridge carrying Interstate 5 over the Columbia River.

Inslee spoke to business and government leaders in Vancouver on Friday. He says the opportunity for billions in federal funding for the project won't be available for at least another decade.

Oregon recently approved $450 million toward the project. Washington has to kick in a similar amount to secure the federal dollars.

The project has run into vocal opposition from people who don't think the bridge should link Vancouver with Portland's light-rail network.

Inslee has previously said the light-rail component is non-negotiable. He walked that back Friday, saying he values everyone's opinion but there's only one option on the table and it includes light-rail.
