OKANOGAN, Wash. —

The Okanogan County sheriff's office says a man was shot and killed by his son Thursday night and responding officers shot the suspect.

The sheriff's office says deputies were called to a home because of a possible assault. When they arrived two women ran out and said a father had been shot by his son.

The Okanogan County Special Response Team went to the scene. When they attempted to talk with the suspect, shots were fired.

The sheriff's office says law enforcement shot the suspect. He was taken to Mid Valley Hospital in Omak, condition unknown.

The father was dead at the scene.

No officers were injured.

The incident is being investigated by the Chelan County sheriff's office.
