SEATTLE —

The calendar may say spring but snow is still in the forecast for parts of Washington.

The National Weather Service says 1 to 2 inches of snow could fall in Western Washington Thursday and Friday mornings on hills down to an elevation of 300 feet. The warm ground and daytime temperatures in the 40s will quickly melt it away.

It's a different story in the Cascades where more than a foot of snow could fall by Friday near Snoqualmie and Stevens passes.

In Eastern Washington, forecasters expect cool and showery conditions through the weekend.

Warmer, drier weather is expected early next week across the state.
