23-year sentence for Olympia homeless homicide

A 21-year-old man was sentenced Monday in Olympia to 23 years in prison for his role in a stabbing death at a homeless camp.

OLYMPIA, Wash. —

A 21-year-old man was sentenced Monday in Olympia to 23 years in prison for his role in a stabbing death at a homeless camp.

Prosecutors say Jason Beeson gave a co-defendant the knife used last October to kill Matthew Samlock.

The Olympian reports (http://is.gd/MVxXwB) Beeson pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

The co-defendant, 21-year-old Jakob Curtis, pleded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced in February to 33 years in prison.
