The Washington State Patrol is recommending a vehicular homicide charge against a 26-year-old Gig Harbor man who crashed his car on Highway 16, killing his 9-year-old nephew.
Troopers say Jayce L. Randall had been drinking and smoking marijuana when he lost control early Saturday and rolled his car near Gig Harbor.
Randall and 9-year-old Donovan Best were ejected.
The boy was taken to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma where he died Sunday night when he was taken off life support.
Randall was taken to Tacoma General Hospital and is recovering.
The patrol says the boy's 8-year-old sister was in the backseat wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
