Federal prosecutors say the owner of a nonprofit "club" that hosted Alcoholics Anonymous meetings was selling oxycodone before and afterward.

Michael Martin Shepard was arrested Monday night and made an initial appearance in U.S. District Court on Tuesday but did not enter a plea. Investigators said the 64-year-old ran the Nomadian Community Resource Center in South Seattle, and that he tried to avoid detection by selling only to people who agreed to become a member of the club.

Charging papers say someone called police in November 2012 to report the drug dealing, and that Shepard sold pills five times to a police informant, with undercover police and federal agents observing several of the sales. The sales reportedly occurred before and after meetings for alcoholics and drug addicts.
