The Skamania County, Wash., sheriff's office says it is suspending a search in the Columbia River Gorge after finding no credible physical evidence of any missing person.
A hiker had reported hearing a man yelling for help Saturday night near the top of Table Mountain.
Undersheriff Dave Cox says searchers looked Sunday and Monday but found nothing. He says his office has received no reports of overdue hikers and has found no unattended vehicles.
Cox said those factors, the treacherous terrain and deteriorating weather conditions prompted him to suspend the search as of Monday evening.
