The Whatcom County sheriff's office says one man was stabbed during a fight outside a girls' basketball tournament on Saturday.
The Bellingham Herald reports (http://bit.ly/YlL7DV) 32-year-old Larry D. Fenner was arrested a short distance from Mount Baker High School in Deming. He was booked into Whatcom County Jail for investigation of second degree assault.
Sgt. Scott Huso says that Fenner and another man were attending the basketball tournament when they got into an argument outside the gym over a past debt.
Huso says the argument escalated into a fistfight, and one man pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed the other in the left shoulder.
The second man had minor, non-life threatening injuries.
