SEATTLE —

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee welded his grandson's initials - BRI - on the keel of the new ferry Samish on Friday at the Vigor shipyard in Seattle.

Inslee said he chose the initials for Brody Robert Inslee because, "These boats will last at least 60 years and I like to think of him taking his kids or grand kids on this boat."

The ceremony marked the keel laying for the Samish. It's the state's second new 144-car ferry after the Tokitae (toh-kee-tay).
