The Snohomish County sheriff's office is launching a school services unit to be an added resource for school safety.

The Snohomish County sheriff's office is launching a school services unit to be an added resource for school safety.
The sheriff's office says the unit will be made up of current school resource officers and deputies who will consider schools their beat.
Sheriff John Lovick proposed the school services unit after the school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
Snohomish County has more than 100 public and private schools in unincorporated areas.
